Alice Anne Humphries, 98, passed away on February 3, 2024. She was born on May 14, 1925 in Hoboken, New Jersey to the late Harry and Clara Benneck. In addition to her parents, Alice was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Roger L Humphries; sister, Harriet Benneck; brother, George Zeblisky; grandson, Willis Nathan Ridge.
She is survived by daughter, Carol Carlson; son, Tom Humphries; son, Mark (Laura) Humphries; son, Paul (Rhonda) Humphries; daughter, Robin (Bill) Ridge; as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren and nieces.
Alice graduated from Bellevue School of Nursing in 1946. After graduating nursing school, she and a friend took a vacation trip to Los Angles, California where she met her future husband. Alice married Roger Lee Humphries on December 31, 1950 in Van Nuys, California. They remained husband and wife until Roger's death on August 16,1999. Alice worked for the University of Arkansas Medical Sciences, Arkansas Home Health Association and Punta Gorda Home Health Services. Alice's final volunteering was with The Virginia V. Andes Volunteer Community Clinic assisting elderly clients to acquire affordable medicines. At age 90, Alice moved back to Little Rock to be close to family. She had many friends and was loved and respected by all.
Alice's five children, three nieces and nephew relied on her advice. They always found an open ear. Her gift for listening provided gentle wisdom and kindness. Alice always had time to talk with all who called or visited. She was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Souls Church and the Seniors Group for seven years while she lived in Little Rock. Alice will be missed by everyone she met.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made on Alice's behalf to Holy Souls Church Seniors Group. Visitation will be 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. Friday, February 9, 2024 with Rosary beginning at 6:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 10, 2024. Both services will be at Our Lady of the Holy Souls Church, 1003 North Tyler St. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Cremation Services of Arkansas (501)313-5431.
