Carolyn Joyce Burson Montgomery, 80, of North Little Rock passed away peacefully on September 15, 2020, surrounded by her children.  She was born on October 19, 1939 to the late John Burson and Edna Garrett Burson in Garner, Arkansas.

She graduated from North Little Rock High School in 1957 and began work as a shorthand specialist.  Carolyn later moved into the paralegal profession, contributing to the success of a local law firm for 10 years.  Never one to be idle, she then went on to indulge in her passion for crafting and painting by establishing and operating a successful flea market business as well as being an avid gardener.

In her mind, and in the hearts of her family, her principal role was that of mother and grandmother.  Carolyn's love of John Wayne was only surpassed by her love for her family.

She was "Auntie" to two nieces before raising two children of her own and caring for three grandchildren.  She excelled at the art of goodie bags, inventing pretend worlds and building tent playhouses, and making someone feel everything would work out for the best. She was never happier than when surrounded by her Million Dollar Family in the midst of laughter and good humor.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Hayward Montgomery and her brother, Vernon Burson.  She is survived by her daughter, Carla Toczek (David); son, Michael Montgomery (Pam); sister Betty Burson;  grandchildren Michael Toczek (Maggie), Matthew Toczek, and Kelly Montgomery.

A private memorial will be held Saturday, September 19, 2020 at 1:30 PM. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Cremation Services of Arkansas (501) 313-5431.
