Carolyn Mae Ricks Shubra was born on December 1, 1940. On August 27, 2023 she transitioned peacefully surrounded by loving family. She grew up in Carlisle, AR then moved to Washington, D.C. at the age of 17. She was pursued by the F.B.I. to work for them after graduating high school. She met her husband, George Shubra, in the Washington Metropolitan Area and the pair were married for over 50 years.

The couple moved to Arkansas and made their final home in Cabot. She retired from Democrat Printing & Lithographing. She loved her job and took pride in having a perfect product. She made lifelong friends from her years of employment there.

She had a passion for thoroughbred horses, racing and handicapping. She loved Oaklawn Park. Earlier in life, she painted with oil and participated in art competitions.

Carolyn was known for her kindness and positive attitude that touched the hearts of everyone she met. Her many devoted friends will always remember her willingness to help those in need.

She is preceded in death by husband, George James Shubra of Cabot, AR; parents, Olen and Mollie Ricks of Carlisle, AR; brothers, Carles Ray and Owen Ricks of Carlisle, AR.

She is survived by brother, Charles and Anna Ricks of Austin, AR; sister, Karen Ricks of Bryant, AR; her two daughters, Sharon and Randy McChristian of Brentwood, TN and Kimberly and Keith Montgomery of Maumelle, AR; four grandchildren, Lauren and Adam Hooker of Phoenix, AZ; Brandon McChristian of Boston, MA; Garrett McChristian of Brentwood, TN and Alexis Montgomery of Maumelle, AR; her only great granddaughter, Eloise Hooker of Phoenix, AZ.
