Obituary

Carolyn Giles York, 82, of Little Rock, Ark., passed away Monday, January 25, 2021. She was born August 26, 1938 in Little Rock to the late Earl Ervin Giles and Marguerite Giles. Carolyn was preceded in death by her sister Elizabeth Pierce.

Carolyn is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Dr. Lyndal York; daughter, Michelle Gocio and son John York; brother, Bill Giles; grandchildren, Sophia Gocio, James York, Michael York, and Danny York, three great-grandchildren; nephew, Steven Pierce.

Carolyn graduated from Little Rock High in '55. She obtained a B. A. from Harding College and a M.S. from U.A.L.R. Carolyn worked at the Arkansas Services for the Blind where she taught daily living skills to blind children in nine counties .in Central Arkansas.

Music and art were central to Carolyn's life. She was a painter and played in a recorder group. She was a loving mother and a great friend to everyone. Teaching Sunday School for an older ladies group was also a joy. The Roundtable Sunday School class at Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church was greatly loved. In later years she was active in yoga and made many new friends. Another abiding interest was the Arkansas Audubon Society where she served as Membership Chair for some time.
