Obituary

Charles was gifted and intelligent, graduating high school and attending the University of Missouri on scholarship at the age of sixteen. There, he studied chemistry while also beginning a career at Walmart as a store supervisor. He would eventually be promoted as Vice President of New Stores and become interested in digital technologies, specifically that of digital printing and bar coding. He was hired GTI (Kansas City, MO) followed by Uarco (Barrington, IL), where he would assist in the development of barcode label systems.

Throughout life, Charles had a great passion for the environment and sustainability that ultimately lead to him to become an environmental chemist. He published patents on timber alternatives, pesticides, and prevention of bacterial growth on particle board. Coincidentally, his research of bacteria would serve as an anti-SARS disease agent.

Though a complex scientist, he enjoyed a personal life of simplicity. Misunderstood though admired by many, he lived a humbly while fishing with his wife and children at Lake Maumelle, cooking, hunting, oil painting landscapes, leatherworking, and watching historic documentaries.

He is survived by his wife, Dolores; son, Vince; brother, Raymond; sister, Betty; niece, Shelley. He was preceded in death by his son, Dylan.
