IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Charles Dwayne
Shelton
January 9, 1971 – January 22, 2022
Charles Dwayne Shelton, age 51 of Little Rock gained a new home in heaven on January 22, 2022. He was born in Ft. Worth, TX on January 9, 1971. Dwayne was a graduate of McClellan High School class of 1989 and the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in 1994.
Dwayne attended New Life Church of Greater Little Rock, where he was very passionate about his renewed faith. He was the Little Rock Store Manager for Best HVAC Parts & Supply. He enjoyed mountain biking, fly fishing and cooking. He was a loyal friend, had a great sense of humor, was committed to finding his health, loved his children, was protective of his grandmother (Gigi) and was a Pulaski Academy football fan.
Dwayne was the kindest and most helpful person you would ever meet who NEEDED to help other people and he never, ever met a stranger. We were all recipients of his passion for cooking and music and are so much better because of it. Although he struggled with alcoholism for years, he had been sober for 6 months. He loved being sober and we were blessed to be able to experience a "new" Dwayne that was better than ever before. During his time of sobriety, he rededicated his life to the Lord and was so excited to share with anyone about his journey and all that Jesus had done for him. The void he leaves behind can never be filled but we rejoice in knowing that he was sober and on his way to an AA meeting when he was hit and killed. He is now free from struggling on this earth to standing in the presence of the Lord who said, "Well done, my good and faithful servant."
He is survived by his children, Will and Allie Shelton, their mother, Jennifer Shelton of Little Rock, his mother and her husband, Jean and Kermit Owens of Little Rock, his sister and her husband, Marilyn Shelton Ewing and Brad Ewing of Little Rock; his nephews Spencer Ewing and Cole Ewing; his grandmother Josie (Gigi) Copeland of Little Rock, and so many aunts, uncles and cousins that loved him fiercely. He is preceded in death by his father, William (Bud) Shelton. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at New Life Church in Maumelle, AR on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at 1:00PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the Cosmopolitan Foundation (Cosmo), Regen at New Life Church, or a charity of your choosing. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Cremation Services of Arkansas (501)313-5431.
