Curtiss Eugene Lawson, 84, of Woodville, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2026. He was born on February 10, 1942, in Frankclay, Missouri to Logan and Bertha Lawson.
Curtiss proudly served his country as a Vietnam Veteran in the United States Army's 1st Infantry Division. He carried great pride in his military service throughout his life. Following his service, he pursued many interests and hobbies that brought him joy, including flying private airplanes, fishing, and hunting. In his later years, he especially enjoyed visiting casinos, where he spent time playing poker and slot machines.
Family was at the heart of Curtiss's life. One of his greatest blessings was spending his final days surrounded by loved ones at a family reunion in Missouri. He treasured the opportunity to connect with family and was grateful for the memories made during that special gathering.
Curtiss was preceded in death by his parents, Logan and Bertha Lawson; his son, Curtiss Eugene Lawson; six brothers, Johnny Lawson, Edward "Dale" Lawson, Ronald Lawson, Jerry Lawson, Clifford "Wayne" Lawson, and Danny Lawson; and his sister, Lola Jean Pippen.
He is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Lori Ludeman, and son-in-law, Kevin Ludeman; his brothers, Terry Lawson and Bobby Lawson; his sisters, Rhonda Maracle and Brenda Devore; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends whose lives were enriched by knowing him.
Curtiss will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, his love of family, and the many friendships he cultivated throughout his life. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
