Obituary

Darrell Leon Attaway I, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2025 in Benton, Arkansas, surrounded by love. He was born on May 6, 1962 in Duncan, Oklahoma, to James Elmer Attaway and Betty Jo (Attaway) Ma. Darrell's life was one of kindness, passion, and unwavering dedication to his family.

On February 10, 1983, Darrell married the love of his life, Celina, in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Together, they built a strong, loving home filled with joy, laughter, and music. The couple raised three sons, Darrell Attaway II (Latisha), Shawn Attaway (Morgan), and Chris Attaway (Anna), instilling in them the values of love, family, and integrity.

Darrell's heart was full of music. He loved playing the guitar, learning new songs, and singing for those he cherished. Music was his way of connecting with the world and bringing joy to others. Professionally, Darrell had a passion for cutting meat, a craft he honed over four decades before retiring. His dedication and pride in his work were matched only by his devotion to his family.

Darrell's home in Benton, Arkansas, which he shared with Celina and their beloved dog, Sandy, was a haven of warmth and love. Above all, Darrell treasured time spent with his family, creating memories that will be cherished forever.  Darrell was preceded in death by his parents, James Elmer Attaway and Betty Jo (Attaway) Ma; his brother, Terry Attaway.

He is survived by his wife, Celina; his three sons and their spouses; his grandchildren, Amiee Attaway, Pheobe Attaway, Serinity Attaway, and Lee Attaway; his step-grandchildren, Michael Franklin, Andrea Taylor, Elizabeth Grace Taylor, Lilly Allemond, Mary Jane Wells, Ethan Wells, and Evan Wells;  his brothers, James Lee Attaway of Oklahoma, Jesse Attaway of California, Michael Ma of Tennessee, Daniel Ma of Mississippi, and Alphonsus Ma of Texas; his sisters, Betty Jo Calvin of Arkansas and Cheryl Long of Oklahoma;  many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Darrell Leon Attaway I leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and music. His presence will be deeply missed but forever carried in the hearts of all who knew him.  Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Cremation Servcies of Arkansas (501)313-5431.
