Obituary

On Sunday, October 6, 2019, George James "Sonny" Shubra, of Cabot, Ark. passed away at the age of 81.  He was born on January 27, 1938, in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania.

After serving in the Army Reserve and his long career at Arkansas Children's Hospital as a machinist, George spent his life doing the things he loved best: collecting model cars, trains, and vintage beer cans, playing the saxophone, solving puzzles, and cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was known for being proud of his Polish roots and often instilled his heritage in his children and grandchildren.

His favorite place to spend time was at his home in the country with his wife and sweetheart of 59 years, Carolyn Shubra. His achievements included serving as the president of the Jim Beam club and a member of the Moose Lodge 492 in Sherwood, AR.

George was preceded in death by his father, George Joseph, and his mother, Mary. In addition to his wife, Carolyn, George is survived by his two children, Sharon (Randy) McChristian and Kimberly (Keith) Montgomery, his four grandchildren who knew him as "Papap", Brandon and Garrett McChristian, and Lauren and Alexis Montgomery, by his two siblings, Dorine (Ron) Kovac and Ronnie (Robin) Shubra, along with his beloved bulldog Sarge.

A memorial service will be held November 23, 2019 at Griffen Leggett Resthills in Sherwood, AR at 2pm. Memorials may be made in memory of George J. Shubra to Rescue Bulldogs at rescuebulldogs.org.
