Gwendolyn Jean Cherry, 76, of North Little Rock, formerly White Hall, passed away Saturday, May 7th, 2022.
Gwen was a kind soul who showed endless love to those she cared for. She was a strong, hard worker her entire life. She became one of the first female welders and heavy equipment operators in the state of Arkansas. She loved trucking and was a long-haul driver for over 25 years. Gwen loved fishing, reading, crocheting, gardening, hummingbirds, and deeply cherished all of her fur babies over the years.
Gwen was preceded in death by her parents, Otis and Mary Hopson, as well as two brothers and one infant sister.
She is survived by her two children. Her son, Tony Petty of Kentucky, and daughter, DeEsta Cherry of North Little Rock. She has six grandchildren; Gwennetta Rochelle, Calvin, Ellen, and Cherry Thompson all of Arkansas; Brittney Vines and Amanda Petty of Kentucky. 12 great grandchildren, one brother, one sister, many nieces and nephews, and other family and friends whom she loved dearly.
As per Gwen's wishes, there will be no funeral service. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Cremation Services of Arkansas (501)313-5431.
