Obituary

Hillary Anne Davis was the beloved only child of Rhonda and Greg Davis, and the cherished granddaughter of Ruth Davis and Bill and Eileen Wassmer of Indiana.

Born in Colorado, Hillary spent her childhood in Texas, growing up in Lubbock before graduating from Lake Travis High School in Austin. A gifted student and athlete, she excelled both academically and as a junior tennis player.

Hillary continued her education and tennis career at Georgia Tech in Atlanta, later earning her MBA from the University of Oklahoma. Her professional path led her to Little Rock and Dallas, where she worked in the financial sector before returning to her first love—coaching and teaching tennis. At Lakes Tennis Academy, she found joy in mentoring young players and felt deeply blessed to once again be part of the Dallas tennis community, even as she faced profound physical challenges.

From a young age, Hillary embraced her Catholic faith, beginning with her First Communion at Christ the King Catholic Church in Lubbock. Her faith deepened throughout her life, nurtured at the Georgia Tech Catholic Center during her college years, and later through her involvement in the young adult ministries at Watermark Community Church (Dallas), Prince of Peace Catholic Church (Plano), St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church (Frisco), and Christ the King Catholic Church (Little Rock).

While Hillary accomplished much in her life, she wished to be remembered for her joyful spirit. At her baptism, we were reminded that "Hillary" means "cheerful, joyous, and happy." Later in life, she came to understand that true joy is found only through faith in the mercy and grace of God.

Even as she endured the painful realities of a long battle with anorexia, Hillary's faith in God only grew stronger. She cultivated profound humility, trust, and surrender to His will. Her compassion for others deepened, and she consistently showed kindness and respect to those who suffered. Despite her physical and mental trials, Hillary refused to let them define her. She lived with hope, courage, and a quiet joy rooted in her belief in God's goodness. Her lifelong discipline and determination sustained her to the very end.

Hillary loved laughter with friends, the deep bonds of trust she shared with her teammates, and the beauty of walking and running outdoors in God's creation.  She was profoundly grateful for the love and forgiveness of her family, friends, priests, and church community. In turn, her friends cherished her kindness, loyalty, gentle spirit, and steadfast faith above all else. On her final day, Hillary reflected on the words of Pope John Paul II: "Be not afraid," and the eternal truth of Scripture: "This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad."

Hillary's spirit will forever be remembered for her tremendous courage and unwavering faith. We believe she now rests in the loving presence of our Lord Jesus Christ, honoring the Blessed Virgin Mary in thanksgiving for Her maternal intercession and comfort throughout the trials and tribulations of her earthly journey.

Hillary's early drive and discipline inspire us to pursue excellence, while her steadfast faith and courage in the end, call us to live more fully for God. We give thanks for her life and look forward with hope and joy to the day we rejoice with her again in heaven.  Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Cremation Services of Arkansas 501-313-5431
