Horace Chapman McGaughy, better known as "Chap", died May 3, 2021 in Little Rock at the age 85. Chap was born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas to James and Bonne McGaughy.
He was a 1954 graduate of Pine Bluff High School where he was known for playing the trombone in the marching band. He was a reserve in the National Guard. Chap received a music degree from Henderson State College where he loved the Jazz ROTC band.
His first job was with the Arkansas Power and Light where he met and married the love of his life, Margaret Faulk. Their first child, Richard, was born in Pine Bluff before they moved to Fayetteville for a data processing job at UofA where their second child, Karen, was born.
In Fayetteville he met the founder of Systematic and made the move to Little Rock to have a successful 20+ year career enabling a six month tenure in Norway. He loved traveling, nature, hiking, music and singing baritone at St. Mark's Episcopal Church for many years. Chap also loved black standard poodles, Jet being his favorite.
Chap was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Faulk McGaughy, son Richard Chapman McGaughy, daughter Karen Juliet McGaughy and brother Jackie McGaughy.
Chap is survived by his brother, Jimmy McGaughy and his wife Mary; sister in law, Mary Virginia McGaughy; brother in law, Richard Faulk and his wife Susan; nieces and nephews; special friend, Jim Bauer; a host of friends and especially blessed with his extended family William and Randy Thomas.

Celebration of his life will be held at Bellwood Cemetery in Pine Bluff, Tuesday, May 11th at 1:00 p.m. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Cremation Services of Arkansas (501)313-5431.
