Obituary

Igor Malczycki was born September 14, 1933, in Ledochowo, Poland.  He arrived in the United States with his parents, two brothers and two sisters in September, 1949, following the end of World War II and their release from 5 years in a Nazi work camp.  He left to join all of them on February 13, 2021.

Igor graduated from Little Rock Central High School in 1954 and was a proud member of Wilsons' Tigers.  Some of the happiest moments of his life were spent on the field at Quigley Stadium.  He often said he went from being sprayed by disinfectant, head shaved and held behind an electrified fence by brutal guards to the sounds of cheers from the stands as he played football on the field at Quigley.  He attended Little Rock Junior College where he played on the College's last football team and where he was voted King of the Campus.

He was a 32 nd degree Mason and a proud member of "Riegler's Raiders", the 916 th Mash Unit, U. S. Army.  He spent his working life with International Business Forms (IBF) and continued to meet for lunch with his former co-workers until the virus hit.

He loved his home, especially working in his well-manicured yard, he loved being a big part in the lives of his two daughters as they grew into beautiful, successful young ladies and mothers, and then enjoying his grandchildren and later in life his great-grandchildren.  He loved having fun dancing and spending time with his friends.  For years he met all of his old football pals for coffee early each morning at Andy's.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Donna Rokasek; both daughters, Lori and Renee; his parents, Wasyl B. and Maria Malczycki; his brothers, Borys and George; his sisters, Tamara and Regina; his niece, Zoya Bilozar.  He is survived by his loving wife of 11 years, Mary Lou (Medlock); his step-sons, Jay, Scott and Chip Cabbiness; his "favorite" granddaughter, Ashleigh Johnson (Christopher); his grandsons, Trent, Travis (Jordan), Taylor (Savannah), and Cory; his great- granddaughter, Kinley; great-grandsons, Chet, Cruz and Nash; his son-in-law, Terry Gunter; his sister-in-law, Kayla Malczycki; his nieces and nephews, Mindy, Margie, Matt and Mitch Malczycki, Bill and Alan Dobbins, Carrie Emler and Nicolina Rosen; his great-nieces, Sonja and Zirka, whom he dearly loved.

Special thanks to our wonderful neighbors, Jon and Michelle Hayden, and their daughters, who were angels to us during the last few years.  And more thanks than can be expressed in words to the North Little Rock and Little Rock VA doctors and staff, especially Dr. Sharon McLaughlin, Dorothy and Mark, and a special CNA, Lisa Little, and all the nurses and physical therapists who made it possible for Igor to stay in his home until the last hours of his life.  And love and thanks to Igor's special friend, Susan Elsworth, who always made him smile.

A celebration of his life will be held at a later date due to COVID restrictions.  Cremation arrangements entrusted to Cremation Services of Arkansas (501)313-5431.

Memorials may be made to the Tiger Foundation, Post Office Box 25005, Little Rock, AR 72225 (tax deductible) or a charity of your choice.
