John Adney, the original matchmaker passed away Monday August 31st.
John had a gift for bringing people together. Through his life and career in telecommunications John was the go-to guy when you needed to meet a new personal or industry contact. His ease of communication and ability to connect with people in a disarming manner was his gift.
Whether he was trout fishing or falling asleep in the deer stand, he loved being in the outdoors. You would often find John introducing whole families to his favorite hobbies. You didn't dare enter an outdoor store with John or he would convince you to purchase some item you wanted but absolutely didn't need.
One of John's favorite Little Rock events was the Marathon. He volunteered there on several occasions and completed the full marathon two different times. He enjoyed delivering snacks, coffee and a smile to all the course workers he could find and especially those from local law enforcement.
John is preceded in death by his father and his brothers, David and Gabe. He is survived by his mother Mary H. Adney; sisters, Donna Jackson, and Ruth Adney and husband Gary Eklund; sons, Michael and Stephen and Stephen's wife Lily and son Oliver; niece Sarah Metzger and husband Michael; nephew, Jonathan Jackson and wife Mary; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and great nieces and nephews.
A graveside service is scheduled for 10:00 am Sunday September 20 th at Pinecrest Funeral Home, 7401 Hwy 5, Alexander AR (501) 847-0265. Visitation will take place afterwards at Whole Hog Café, 5107 Warden Rd, North Little Rock, AR (501) 753-9227.
