John Dan Poppa "Moonshine" was born on March 24, 1958. On June 4, 2020, he passed in his sleep at his home.
To his family, he was always a pillar of strength and encouragement. He put his family's needs before his own and gladly went without if it meant that he could meet the needs of his loved ones. He was genuine in every aspect of his life and raised us to know that when you have family, you are never alone.
He taught us that no matter what happens in life, you work hard and do your best. That even if you feel slighted or let down, you still always do what is right.
We learned from him how to laugh at ourselves and the mistakes we made. We learned that no one is perfect, but loving each other through struggles only builds greater bonds.
John loved his wife with every ounce of his being and showed us exactly what it meant to be a spouse. For his children, he was the best role model we could ask for. He was our super hero, our strength when we felt weak, and our advisor when we felt lost. He told us as often as he could how much he loved us and how proud he was of us.
He will be joining his wife of 36 years in heaven along with all of our other loved ones that went before them.
He is survived by:
His sons: Jason Poppa (Nikki), Shannon Chaney, and Christopher Poppa (Clarissa).
His daughters: Kristin Poppa, Rachel Poppa, Tiffany Carlton (James), and Carly Poppa.
His brothers: Emil Poppa and Virgil Poppa
His grandchildren: Tristan Chaney, Mina Poppa, Mia Poppa, Jayden Poppa, Alannah Poppa, Lola Poppa, Emma Anderson, Julius Carlton, Jaiden Carlton, Evan Clayburn, Ember Carlton, Johnny Strother, Chance Thomas, Skylar Thomas, and Maiah Thomas, Olivia Loiuse.
