IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lona Sue
Clark
November 13, 1946 – January 16, 2023
Lona Sue Clark, age 76, of Bryant, Arkansas passed away on January 16, 2023.
Lona Sue Clark was born on November 13, 1946 to Lonnie M. Mills and Bernice Raper Leslie Mills in Paris, Arkansas. Lona Sue grew up in Paris, Arkansas in a close knit family of eleven, nine children, who remained exceptionally close throughout their lifetimes. She graduated from Paris High School after which she attended beauty school in Little Rock. This is when she met her husband, Maurice "Beau" Clark, Jr. and had her two children J and Trey.
Lona Sue spent the majority of her career at Parts Warehouse, Inc. and after thirty years of service retired in December 2011. Those who knew Lona Sue, most especially in the workplace, would agree that she told you what she thought about things while maintaining a professional manner of respect; a trait straight from the Mills family of always being outspoken.
Her life continued to be full even after retirement. She was able to live out the rest of her life with her best friend and sister, Nancy, whom she lived with for more than twenty years. She enjoyed her grandchildren, Samantha, Emily and Rece more than almost anything else in life. During the time she was physically able she was very active in both of the girls' lives as they were growing up. Rece, her only grandson, came much later and she cherished his company every chance she got. "Ma", as we all came to lovingly call her, was ready to welcome her first greatgrandchild, Novaleigh Janae Williams, into the world and to hold her in her matriarchal arms but heaven could no longer wait. She was exceptionally independent despite gradually going blind over the years, she insisted on doing things for herself, never complained and tried to be as self-sufficient as possible. Ma was a beautiful soul who was always ready to listen with a kind heart and had a peaceful, calm disposition that made one want to confide in her. Relationships were very important to her much more so than what this world could offer and if you knew her personally she made you feel welcome and loved. She was a Christian who overcame much adversity physically but she is now restored to her former glory in heaven. Ma also loved the color purple, no doubt she knew this was not her home and that she was truly royalty in the kingdom of heaven. She always loved butterflies. Ma truly has experienced a metamorphosis of great proportions and is made completely whole in Christ; no longer only spiritually whole but, also, physically whole in her eternal state with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She loved her family fiercely and her family loved her dearly and cherished her, we will miss her.
Lona Sue was preceded in death by her parents Lonnie Mills and Bernice Mills, and her siblings Betsy Matthews, Leslie Mills, Melinda Cullins, James "Jim" Wilson Mills, and Lonnie Lynwood Mills. She is survived by her children, J Sterling Clark (Ann), Maurice "Trey" Clark III (Tanya), and by her siblings Nancy Mills, Bill Mills, and John Roger "Jog" Mills and, also, her grandchildren Samantha Leigh Clark (Buddy Williams), Emily Grace Clark (Annabelle Pierce) and Maurice "Rece" Clark IV and her soon to arrive precious greatgranddaughter Novaleigh Janae Williams. She also is survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews who loved her.
There will be no service at this time. Cremation arrangments are under the direction of Cremation Services of Arkansas (501)313-5431.
