Loren Norman Hynes Jr. died peacefully after a brief illness on July 1, 2025. He was born March 15,1942 in Jonesboro, Arkansas to Loren Norman Hynes Sr. and Floy Marie (Headstream) Hynes. Norman was a Professor of Chemistry at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, a Chemical Engineer for ALCOA, and was a member of the Grande Maumelle Sailing Club. He enjoyed spending time with his family at Greers Ferry Lake, where he spent most of his time after retiring, and he also loved the Razorbacks. Norman is preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn (Hinderer) Hynes; brothers, William Hynes and Timothy Hynes (wife, Laurel Hynes); children, Jon Hynes, Christopher Hynes (wife, Julie Hynes), Kristine Jarsma, Kimberly Snell (husband, Brant Snell), and John Jarsma (wife, Kim Jarsma); grandchildren, Liam Hynes, Logan Hynes, Calvin Hynes, Charles Hynes, Chester Roberson, Isabelle Roberson, Savannah Jarsma, and Maxwell Jarsma; extended family includes Chet Roberson and Laura Roberson, Joshua Snell, Julia Snell, and Benjamin Snell.
A private memorial will be held to honor his life.
