Marita Quigley Nazarian died after a short illness on November 19, 2025. She was predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Mary Louise Quigley; her aunt, Sister Jane Anne Rochford; her brother, William. She is survived by her husband, Sarkis Marcel; sons, Stephan (Kristen) and Gregor (Taraneh) Nazarian; grandchildren, Arakel and Zaal Nazarian-Bastani and Sofia Nazarian; two sisters, Cathleen and Julia and their families.
Marita was born in Washington, DC, on June 24, 1953, and educated in schools there, including Stone Ridge Academy. She studied at the University of North Carolina, obtaining an M.S. degree in Clinical Pharmacy in 1980. She was on the faculty at the University of Houston when she met her husband. They were married on June 27, 1981, and moved to New Haven, Connecticut. After working as Drug Information Pharmacist at Yale-New Haven Hospital for 4 years, she moved with her husband to Little Rock in July 1985. She worked in the Pharmacy Department of Arkansas Children's Hospital from 1985 to 2018, when she retired after 30 years as Director of Pharmacy.
Marita was an avid gardener and served on the Governor's Mansion Herb Garden. She volunteered preparing meals at Our House, excelled in needlepoint, and enjoyed Egyptology, repertory theater, and literature. She drew love and support from her fellow Wild Old Women.
Funeral service will be held at the Cathedral of St Andrew at 617 South Louisiana, where she was a parishioner, on Saturday, November 22, at 11:00 am. Reception will follow in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Arkansas Children's Hospital.
