Obituary

Nancy Jo Mills, age 82, of Little Rock, Arkansas passed away on October 1, 2024 and is in heaven with Jesus who saved her, and with her mom, dad and six of her brothers and sisters.

Nancy was born on August 23, 1942 to Lonnie M. Mills and Bernice Raper (Leslie) Mills in Paris, Arkansas.  Nancy was raised in and around Paris, Arkansas, the fourth child of nine children all of whom were very close throughout their entire lifetime.  Nancy graduated from County Line High School and was the first of her family to graduate college, she graduated from Arkansas Tech University.

Nancy was an English and French teacher at both County Line and Paris High Schools for many years.  She loved her students and left quite an impression on many of them.

Most of her last years were spent with her closest friend and sister, Lona Sue Clark in both Little Rock and Bryant, Arkansas.   Nancy was an avid reader, cat-lover and had a particular passion for driving anywhere.  She loved her family fiercely and would do anything for them.  She knew all the new babies born in her family until her dying day, with the last baby she held in her arms being Scottie, her great great nephew.  She was very smart, of good conversation and was often described as "feisty" and "spicy" in her demeanor.

She was dearly beloved by her brothers and sisters for living with and taking care of their parents until they both were in Heaven. When we get to Heaven, what a day of rejoicing that will be!

Nancy Jo Mills was preceded in death by her beloved parents Lonnie Mills and Bernice Mills; siblings, Betsy Matthews (Gary), Leslie Mills (Gloria), Melinda Cullins (Bobby) James "Jim" Wilson Mills (Patty), Lonnie Lynwood Mills (Erma), and Lona Sue Clark.  She is survived by her siblings William Eldon Mills (LaDonna), and John Roger "Jog" Mills and, also, nineteen nieces and nephews that she shared with their parents along with a host of great nieces and great nephews.

Her family  wants to extend our deepest and sincerest gratitude for the compassion help from the dear staff of Chapters Living of Little Rock who lovingly cared for her this last year and especially so this last week when she could no longer care for herself.  We would also like to thank both Baptist Hospital and Baptist Hospice for their incredible help during that time

Service to be announced at a later date.  Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Cremation Services of Arkansas 501-313-5431.
