Shannon Norflet Hamzy was born in Fayetteville, Arkansas on January 28 1947 and  passed away August 5th 2024 from complications following spinal surgery.  He was predeceased by his parents,  Pete and Juanita (Young) Hamzy; sister, Janet  James.

He is survived by his brother, Brad Hamzy; sisters, Sharon Saari (Steve) and Pam Lyerly (James); wife of 39 years, Janice (Biggs) Hamzy; two children, Kelli Kavanagh (Ian) and Jason Hamzy (Lee); six grandchildren, Jennifer Collette, Finn and Eve Kavanagh, Hannah Rose,  Joseph and Faith Hamzy; great-granddaughter, Amelia Collette. Shannon was also proud to be a part of the life of a very special person Brandon Bennett.

Shannon was a skilled aircraft sheetmetal mechanic who chose contracted work which allowed him to travel extensively. Throughout his career he worked on all types of military vehicles, helicopters and aircraft in the  private sector. Shannon was kind, had a good sense of humor and enjoyed playing games of any kind. He most enjoyed shooting pool at home with his buddies.  He was greatly loved and will be greatly missed.
