Virginia Gail Holmes, 68, passed away at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock on Friday, June 26, 2020, after a short illness.
Gail was born on December 25, 1951, in Little Rock, Arkansas, to Marvin Clarence and Opal Emma Wiedower Overton. Starting her life helping others as a member of Little Rock Rainbow Assembly #3, she completed her education at Hall High School and the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, where she studied social work. After graduating she worked for the Arkansas Department of Human Services and for St. Vincent's Doctors Hospital, then retired from Goodwill Industries of Arkansas after 18 years of service as a job placement counselor in 2019.
She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her daughters, Angela Renee (Cochran) Roberts of Sheridan, and Crystal Gail (Grice) Feier of Little Rock, Arkansas, her beloved dog "Buttons", as well as many cousins, friends, and grand-pets.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Requiem Mass to remember and celebrate Gail's life will be held at St. Mark's Episocpal Church in Little Rock, Arkansas at a later date, and afterwards her ashes will be interred in St. Mark's Columbarium. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
